At the height of the Blitz during WWII in Britain, the Germans bombard their targets day after day, night after night. While the devastation from the air raids is widespread, the death toll doesn’t climb; the Wardens haven’t found a body in days. But people are still going missing.

Two young lads, flush on the adventure of war, scamper through the rubble in search of treasure and other spoils. They thrive on the peril; find fascination with the dangerous and grotesque. When they stumble across a prize that might be their best yet, they soon discover there are horrors beneath the city…

Something far more terrifying than the Jerrys flying overhead.

Takers of Light

Daniel Loubier

TakersOfLight_DanielLoubier_Cover

A long time ago, there was a race of beings that lived in the streets and the shadowy places below them; they were driven underground by those of the light. This subterranean race is now known as The Dark Dwellers…

To Tarnen, a young Dark Dweller, the world above is an unknown place. He’s spent his entire life below the surface in the dim sewers with Mother and Father, surviving on the meat and bones of small creatures and scurrying bent forward through the tunnels that are his home.

When Tarnen learns of another world, one full of light and people that walk upright, his curiosity gets the better of him and he must see it for himself. Disobeying Mother, Tarnen climbs a ladder toward the brightness from above and meets Sarah, a young girl who has recently moved to the city. Only able to see her through a sewer grate, Tarnen quickly becomes infatuated and wishes to visit her world – the world of light. He wants nothing more than to see her world as she sees it, to no longer be confined underground; to stand next to Sarah and feel the warmth of the sun.

Is Tarnen’s eagerness to be near Sarah enough to goad him into entering her world? Or will his parents’ warnings about the evils of Man – those who forced his race into a life of hardship – be enough to keep him from leaving the security of his world below and enter that of The Takers of Light?

The Remington

Alex Woolf

AlexWoolf_TheRemington_Final.png

Howard Protheroe leads the dullest existence imaginable. Literally nothing ever happens to him. Then one day, his life changes when he meets fun-loving, talkative Evie Nickelbite. Howard and Evie feel an instant connection. But something doesn’t seem quite right. It’s almost as if their lives are being controlled by an outside force.

At around the same time, in an apparently unrelated incident, would-be writer George W. Durant decides to purchase a typewriter, an 1878 Remington.

As Howard and Evie’s lives become increasingly action-packed and fraught with danger, they start to feel like characters in badly written novel. What is going on, and what does it have to do with George’s Remington?

By turns surreal, funny and romantic, The Remington navigates the mysterious terrain between the worlds of fiction and real life and asks if love can ever bridge the divide.

There’s a reason no one ever harvested the trees off logging road number 17.

For generations, a creature has hidden deep in the woods of Nova Scotia. Those who knew of its legend feared it, and prayed it would never see the light of day. Unearthing a terror he couldn’t have imagined even if all the stories were true…
